Description

Based on an example in the Wallace collection London, But finished with straight rather than flamberg edges.
Dating from between 1580 and 1600.
The blade has been completely forged and the flukes forge welded to the ricasso.
Left hammer finished and blued, the cross guard is completely forged and forge welded.
The ricasso has a leather cover over two thin timber strips, while the grip is a single joinless piece of timber, spirally grooved, covered with leather and finished with brass studs.
The pommel is of octagonal section with integral button and foot.
